Many webmasters have noticed something different with the Google Panda algorithm search rankings lately. Yesterday, Google put the rumors to rest and confirmed their 3.2 update that began on January 18th.

Searchengineland.com had this to share. “Google has confirmed reports of a Panda update with us. The company told us they have done a data refresh of the Google Panda algorithm about a week ago, and added that there were no additional signals or algorithm changes. This was only a data refresh.”

It had been over 9 weeks since Google had made any changes in keeping their word that they would not announce or make new changes during the holiday season.  Google has added, “We’re continuing to iterate on our Panda algorithm as part of our commitment to returning high-quality sites to Google users. This most recent update is one of the over 500 changes we make to our ranking algorithms each year.”

There has been no changes in terms of ranking signals, so Google shares this is a fairly minor, yet important update.  This is the 10th Panda update since the initial update on February 24, 2011. The company’s goal is to make as many improvements as possible this year, which should have every marketer with SEO atop the priority list on the lookout throughout the year.
